Friedman on trade availability of Hurricanes' Skinner
/Elliotte Friedman was on Calgary’s Sportsnet 960 on Friday morning.
On where the Hurricanes may be on Jeff Skinner:
“Jim Rutherford, who was a big Jeff Skinner fan, made him available before he stepped down there. Skinner was available a couple of years ago. I think there were some teams who talked about him. The big issue with Skinner is his injury history. The concussions. There are teams who scouted him very tightly and a couple of them told me they feel the danger with him is he’s become almost too much of a perimeter player.
“He’s been hit. He’s been knocked out. He’s missed a lot of games. If you’re him and you’re young, you’re worried about, ‘How many more of these can we go through?’
“And it’s affected his game and where he’s willing to go on the ice. And I think that’s hurt his trade value as much as anything else.”
