Countdown to TradeCentre: Canucks Outlook

Pierre LeBrun was on TSN on Thursday evening.

On the Vancouver Canucks, and if being banged up means they have to make a move:

“Well, no. They don’t want to make a short-term decision just to salvage the fact they have injuries and they’re trying to get into the playoffs.

“And you just mentioned two important points there. They’re in a holding pattern now. They’ve been trying to get a top-6 forward all year long. And that remains their principle need. But this road trip will have a huge impact on how they act before March 2. If they come home after a disastrous road trip and they’re out of a playoff spot, they’re not going to start trading futures just to try and salvage their season. The long-term future is just as important now for Jim Benning as he tries to restock this franchise with useful talent.

“But if he can get that top-6 and make a hockey deal to make it happen, that’s the priority for Vancouver ahead of March 2.”
