Dreger: Stars gave Gonchar's camp permission to find "new home"

Darren Dreger was on TSN 1040 Tuesday morning.

On Sergei Gonchar:

“I think this is as much about Gonchar wanting out of Dallas as it is them taking on another veteran presence in Travis Moen. Gonchar has been a good citizen in Dallas. As I said, not a great fit with Lindy Ruff there.

“Somewhat unique, but not completely foreign is the fact that Gonchar’s agent - who’s CAA Sports, effectively is Pat Brisson and J.P. Barry - were given permission, I believe last summer, to try and find Gonchar a new home.

“This is the final year of his contract. So they want him, if he’s going out at the end of this season - not saying he is, but if he is - they want to make sure he’s going to out on his own terms. So I think that group, CAA Hockey especially, has been pretty active in trying to find a spot and the history between Therrien and Gonchar is probably a big part of that.”
