Dreger gauges Senators' potential interest in Kane

Darren Dreger was on Ottawa’s TSN 1200 on Friday afternoon.

On his thoughts on if the Ottawa Senators would be a fit for Evander Kane, and if Bryan Murray has interest:

“Well, I do believe Bryan Murray does have some interest. I think at least he’s intrigued by it, or was, before the news today that Kane is out. Again, maybe Ottawa is one of the teams that just says, ‘Nah, we’re not going to do this now. We’re going to continue to be patient.’

“But from an on-ice perspective, you can see Evander Kane being a nice add to the Ottawa Senators.

“I guess I’m hesitant though in thinking of it this way – he’s in a fishbowl in Winnipeg, a Canadian market. Does that change by him staying in a Canadian market in Ottawa or Toronto or Montreal or Vancouver? I don’t think it does. I don’t think it does. And I’m not critical of the lifestyle that Evander Kane sometimes displays on social media, etc. But there are those in the hockey community as baggage. And maybe too much of a risk. And now you add the issue of injury to that, and maybe that’s too much for Bryan Murray, I’m not sure.”
