Dreger wouldn't be surprised if Red Wings "circled back" on Phaneuf

Darren Dreger was on Montreal’s TSN 690 on Friday afternoon.

As part of a bigger discussion on potential NHL trades:

“I think there’s still the potential for, say, Toronto to do something with their big guys. Or one of their big guys. To me that’s Phaneuf. There’s enough interest in him, believe it or not, that I wouldn’t be surprised if a team like Detroit circled back in the eleventh hour on Monday to say, ‘Okay, we see him as a second-pairing guy here. If we’re going to make this deal, you’ve got to take some money back in the way of a bad contract.’

“Maybe at that stage Toronto is willing to do it.”
