LeBrun: "For sure" Chiarelli will get a forward before trade deadline
/Pierre LeBrun was on Montreal’s TSN 690 on Friday afternoon.
As part of a discussion on the Boston Bruins:
“Certainly, Peter Chiarelli will get a forward before Monday’s deadline. For sure. And whether that’s Vermette or Chris Stewart – that would be hilarious, because they’ve literally been talking to Buffalo about Chris Stewart for six months (laughs) and haven’t been able to pull the trigger.
“But Erik Cole, Cam Atkinson, a whole list of guys the Bruins have been trying on.”
And the Bruins were after the very same player the Canadiens got.
“Yeah, Devante Smith-Pelly. The Bruins were talking to Anaheim about him, but in the end didn’t really have what Anaheim was looking for the most, which was sort of a skilled, speedy winger – which we know the Canadiens sent back in Jiri Sekac.
“So it just wasn’t a fit, but the Bruins had some interest in Smith-Pelly and had a couple of conversations with the Ducks for sure.”
