Dreger: Jagr-to-Penguins trade "highly, highly unlikely"
/Darren Dreger was on Toronto’s TSN 1050 on Monday morning.
On which team steps up for Jaromir Jagr:
"Yeah, that’s a tough one. Again, I think we’re all appreciative of what Jaromir Jagr still possesses as a 43-year-old hockey player. Great hands. Great hands. Unbelievable puck protection ability. All of that. But he can’t keep up with the pace of the game.
“So if you’re looking for a power play specialist, or a low-minute guy who can step in and give you that offensive injection, then there might be interest in Jagr.
“People want to connect him to Pittsburgh because of their history. I don’t have the information to say that it’s absolutely not going to happen. I’ve been told by people in Pittsburgh highly, highly unlikely.
“But we’re going to find out more about Jagr this week, and we’ll report that on Insider Trading. Because this is the week where Jagr and his people were to meet with where Lou Lamoriello is saying, ‘Okay, the Devils aren’t qualifying for the post-season, so let’s find a way to cut bait.”
