Friedman: Franson most likely to be traded from Leafs
/Elliotte Friedman was on Edmonton’s 630 CHED on Friday afternoon.
On who is most likely to be traded from the Leafs :
“That’s a great question. I think there are guys they’d like to trade, that they would find it very difficult to be dealt.
“The reason I would say Franson is they have to make a decision on him. He’s an unrestricted free agent. There aren’t a lot of 27ish defencemen who hit the market anymore. The Kings took Alec Martinez off the market this year. You’ve got one there in Jeff Petry. For guys to hit the market at that age, it’s really rare.
“They almost traded Franson last year to Montreal. He was going to Montreal in the Josh Gorges deal that got nixed when Gorges wouldn’t waive his no-trade. And they haven’t started talking to him, so either they’re going to give him a big deal at the absolute last minute, or he’s going somewhere else.”
