Friedman thinks Blues' Berglund "is available"
/Elliotte Friedman was on Edmonton’s 630 CHED on Friday afternoon.
On if Patrik Berglund might be in play:
“I do think Patrik Berglund is available. It’s interesting. I think Vancouver had some interest last summer, but it didn’t go anywhere. I think the biggest concern about Berglund right now is he’s got two years after this. He’s got a no-trade clause that kicks in on July 1. And teams are not sure about where the cap is or kind of where it’s going.
“And Patrik Berglund has been a really frustrating player... A couple of years ago they played San Jose in the playoffs and they beat the Sharks. And Patrik Berglund drove them absolutely crazy. He drove them nuts on the forecheck. And for some reason, he just has not been the same player since. He doesn’t bring it every night.
“So I think people look at Berglund and see a potentially intriguing option, but they kind of say, ‘Is there more there? Should we expect more there?’
“And I get the sense that some teams like Berglund, but they don’t love him. It’s like Seinfeld: ‘Do you like him, or do you like-like him?’ And I’m not sure if there’s enough people that like-like him now.”
