McKenzie: Bruins looked at Stewart, Perron, Oshie, Berglund

Bob McKenzie was on Vancouver’s TSN 1040 on Thursday afternoon.

On the Boston Bruins’ trade possibilities:

“What the Boston Bruins are looking for is a right winger to play with Milan Lucic and David Krejci. And I don’t think the Bruins have been too panicked by where they are in the standings. They’re not happy about it. But I don’t think Pete Chiarelli is sitting there looking at his team saying, ‘Oh my goodness, the bottom’s falling here.’ They’ve only had David Krejci for, last night was his 12th game this season. They knew they have a deficit on that right wing with Krejci and Lucic with Jarome Iginla moving on. They didn’t have a natural fit and that’s been a thorn in their side. And the fact that Reilly Smith, until very recently, wasn’t doing anything either, and Loui Eriksson wasn’t at the top of his game, they basically had no right wingers. For all intents and purposes, their right side was a bit of a disaster. But Reilly Smith has really played well of late. Eriksson’s, I think, starting to play better, and they’re still looking for that right winger for Krejci and Lucic..

“They’ve gone down the Chris Stewart road. They’ve talked to Edmonton about David Perron. I think they flirted with the Blues about people that may or may not be available. T.J. Oshie. Patrik Berglund. The list goes on and on. I just don’t know that they’ve been able to find anything thus far.”

On why the Blues might be willing to listen to trade offers on Oshie and Berglund:

“I don’t know that they are. I think Berglund’s probably more available than Oshie. I think at various times it runs hot and cold. So one week they’re doing something and another week they’re not. I don’t think they want to move Oshie. But they’ve also got to pave the way down the road here for the Tarasenko contract and a few other things. So we’ll see. I know the Bruins and Blues have been scouting each other a fair bit lately. But I don’t think there’s anything imminent on that front.”
