McKenzie guesses Oilers bring back MacTavish, Nelson
/Bob McKenzie was on Edmonton’s TSN 1260 on Friday morning.
On if we can at least look at the Oilers coming back to tie the game against Pittsburgh as a positive:
“I don’t know. I guess you can, sure. You can. I don’t know if it means anything or not. I think the jury is going to continue to be out on the Oilers until they take another run at it and see where they’re at and we get confirmation once the season is over - Are they keeping Todd Nelson? I’m guessing they are, but I don’t know that for an absolute fact. I’m guessing that Craig MacTavish is back as general manager next year, but I don’t know that for an absolute fact.
“So I think we just need the season to finish here and see what direction the Oilers are headed and then I think the judgments you’re going to make on them are more probably based on what you see next year, as opposed to what you see down the stretch.
“That’s not to say nothing matters now, but you can get tricked into – a lot of times with a team that’s playing out the string you can get tricked into thinking they’re really bad or really good based on what I call Fool’s Gold down the stretch, when the games don’t technically mean anything to them.”
