Friedman on Vermette, Blackhawks, Bruins, Blues, Canadiens

Elliotte Friedman was on Edmonton’s 630 CHED on Friday afternoon.

On if Chicago is leading the way on Antoine Vermette:

“Chicago. Boston. Again, I hear Anaheim too. St. Louis has been in on him at some point. I don’t know where that stands. But St. Louis is a team that I think at one time was interested in both Vermette and Michalek together. And I never count out Montreal when it comes to rentals.

“You know, the interesting thing about this is I wonder if there’s a fit – the Coyotes are not afraid to take guys with term back if the deal works out properly. And I wonder if Berglund is a guy that Arizona would like. Or would be interested in taking. Because if they are, I think there’s a deal to be worked out there.

“But there’s a lot on Vermette and I would only imagine the price is going up on him. Maloney had made it very clear he was going to wait to create an auction and he has done that.”
