Friedman: "Vermette is a perfect fit for the Montreal Canadiens"
/Elliotte Friedman was on Calgary’s Sportsnet 960 on Friday morning.
As part of a discussion on the Montreal Canadiens:
“I really wonder if Montreal is one of the teams that’s leading the charge on Vermette. He’d be a perfect fit for them. He’s the kind of guy that Marc Bergevin trades for. If you look at his history guys, the deals he’s made – a lot of UFAs. Thomas Vanek. He tried for Raffi Torres, but didn’t like the price and eventually backed away.
"But you look at the guys he went out and got – Michael Ryder. They’ve all been guys who have been UFAs-to-be. To me, Vermette is a perfect fit for the Montreal Canadiens. And I wonder if Bergevin is one of the guys that’s trying to land him.”
