Dreger: Bruins, Blues, Canucks, Leafs interested in Coyotes' Vermette
/Darren Dreger was on Montreal’s TSN 690 on Thursday morning.
On who is the biggest free agent possibility ending up on another team in the coming weeks:
“I still look at Arizona. For me, they’re the domino. They’re the piece that when players start to move, maybe that loosens things up after the All-Star. Maloney is playing poker right now. They’re not blowing it up in Arizona, but he knows that because of ownership’s direction, they need to renovate the Coyotes, if you will.
“Antoine Vermette has been out there in terms of trade circles for much of this season, and I believe he’s going to be the first piece that goes. Where might he end up? Man, there are tons of teams that have interest in Antoine Vermette. The Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference. The St. Louis Blues in the Western Conference. Vancouver is looking for a top-6 piece. Toronto has interest in Antoine Vermette, I’m sure, as well.
“So he might be the first piece of the puzzle that gets kicked out, and then we see what happens after that.”
