Jordan Subban, family moved on from racist tweets

Vancouver Canucks prospect Jordan Subban was on Team 1040 Friday afternoon.

On the racist tweets from a select few 'fans' of the Boston Bruins targeting his brother, P.K., and how the family dealt with it knowing Malcolm is a prospect of the Bruins:

"I think it's important to note, like my brother said, it has no reflection on the organization of Boston or any of their fans. Obviously it's unfortunate, but my family, we just chose to move on from that.

"To be honest, it's not every year you get to see two Original Six teams playing in the playoffs, so to have something like that take away from what we should be focusing on, which is what has been a great series - obviously it was a great game last night - would be unfortunate and I think for us, we just want to move past that and enjoy this series because it's not every year you get to see two Original Six teams play."

On if Malcolm expressed any regret at his current situation of being a member of the Bruins organization:

"No, I think Malcolm - he's had nothing but positive experience playing in Boston and in Providence, so for him, he knows it's not a racist organization by any means. He gets along with everybody in the organization and the players and fans treat him well, so I don't think Malcolm has any problems playing there."

On if he foresaw the day where P.K. might be among the best defencemen and players in the league:

"You know, I think with P.K. the thing our parents tried to stress with us is the sky is the limit. For us, we were all born with a lot of skill, but with P.K., he's worked very hard and he'll continue to work very hard and I think that's why he gets better every year and you can see it in his stats and in his game.

"Right now, he's in a state where he's really focused and I think you can see that by the way he's playing."

On if it warms his heart to look around the NHL and see smaller defencemen like Tyson Barrie succeeding and making an impact:

"Yeah, definitely, I think you look at guys like Tyson Barrie and even Krug in Boston - I'm sure many people are watching that series closely - you know, it's very possible nowadays. For me, even back when I was younger, I tried to model my game after Brian Rafalski. Those are pretty big shoes to fill, but just watching him and being able to see what he was able to do over his career at his size really gave me hope."
