LeBrun thinks Coyotes will trade Vermette, maybe Yandle too

Pierre LeBrun was on Edmonton’s TSN 1260 on Monday afternoon.

On the Arizona Coyotes, as part of a discussion on the NHL trade scene:

“Arizona Coyotes are an interesting team. They’ve got parts for sale. Namely Antoine Vermette, who’s UFA at the end of the year, a terrific two-way center who can play both center and wing. Really, one of Dave Tippett’s favorite players, to be honest. But given the ongoing ownership situation there in Arizona, where we’re still waiting for this supposed transaction to go through to Andrew Barroway, and it still hasn’t gone through, there’s no money to be spent there. Management has been told since last fall that they can’t add a dime to payroll, so that’s taken away their ability even to entertain the thought of re-signing a guy like Vermette. And frankly now, even though I think they wanted to re-sign him if they had money last fall; I would tell you since then, because of the kind of season they’ve had, I think the priority now is to retool, if not rebuild. Get a little younger here and re-jig this thing because it’s clearly not working. Because of that, I think Vermette will move and even a guy like Keith Yandle might be moved before March 2.”
