Dreger: Trade targets include Coyotes' Vermette, Hurricanes' Tlusty
/Darren Dreger was on Edmonton’s TSN 1260 on Thursday morning.
On if we should expect any trades before the imminent holiday freeze:
“I don’t think so. Nothing of mammoth proportions. There are the usual suspect names that are out there.
“Carolina’s got a few players like Jiri Tlusty and a couple of veteran d-men they would consider moving.
“For me, Arizona is going to be interesting. See what Don Maloney does there. Antoine Vermette’s name is somewhat out there. On Tuesday I described it as an auction environment. This guy is a pending unrestricted free agent. Can play wing. Can play center. He fits a lot of needs for a lot of teams around the NHL. But I can’t believe that would happen in the next 24 hours. Those are things that you might as well wait, and maximize the return. That doesn’t usually happen until you creep closer to the deadline.”
