Hockey Night in Canada: Saturday's Headlines

Elliotte Friedman and Damien Cox's weekly segment on Hockey Night in Canada.

Cox: Mumps have made their way to the Eastern Conference. Tanner Glass has them with New York Rangers.

Friedman: Brad Boyes may be added to the names of players from the Florida Panthers that may interest other teams. One more year left on his deal. Would Penguins be a fit?

Cox: Josh Harding will make his season debut tomorrow night in the AHL. There may be a lot of interest in Harding as the season goes on.

Cox: Zdeno Chara return date is targeted for December 11.

Friedman: Marco Scandella and Brendan Gallagher signed contract extensions today. No no-trade clauses.

Friedman: Dan Hamhuis injury info is really guarded by Vancouver Canucks. Seems like he's not opting to have surgery yet, and is still out long-term.

Cox: Martin Brodeur would play for the St. Louis Blues next week if he's signed by the team.

Cox: World junior roster will be finalized on Sunday. Announced on Monday. Biggest question: Will Josh Ho-Sang be on that roster?

Friedman: "A lot of fans in Edmonton and Philadelphia wondering about their particular teams. The word from other clubs who try to deal with them is they are trying to be careful. They don't want to make a panic, no-reason move in this year that's only going to cost them long-term. In Philly in particular, the word is if you want one of their valuable players who might be available, you may have to take another contract if you want that deal done."
