McKenzie sees Capitals, Flyers hitting trade market

Bob McKenzie was on Toronto’s TSN 1050 on Friday afternoon.

On the Washington Capitals:

“They’re not a contender, really, and they’re not really a bottom-feeder, more nights than not; but they’re kind of in that squishy middle ground. So they’ll take some time for Trotz to put what he wants to put in place, but he’s a good solid coach and I think over the course of time here, they’ll continue to try to turn over the roster a little bit and get stronger and deeper.”

On the Philadelphia Flyers:

“Mr. Snider there, the owner of course, is not famous for being a patient man. Ron Hextall has been brought in and I don’t think he’s going to knee-jerk it to the extent that everything is... he’s probably looking, saying I’ve got to put something together here over the next few years. But in the short term, I think he will try to make some deals. But as I said, some of the defense they’ve got, I don’t think are the most marketable in the world and that’s probably where they need to move some guys out and change up their mix a little bit.”
