Insider Trading
/Tuesday's edition of TSN's Insider Trading featured Darren Dreger, Pierre LeBrun and Bob McKenzie.
McKenzie on Voynov ramifications for Kings' roster:
Bigger issue here than hockey, but Kings have to fill a hole on the blueline. Voynov not coming off the cap with indefinite suspension, but we'll see how that situation unfolds and potentially changes. Jake Muzzin should be back soon.
Dreger on Mark Hunter's job with Toronto Maple Leafs:
He'll manage pro and amateur scouting, but will also have "considerable input" on every day workings.
LeBrun on Marc-Andre Fleury:
Spoke with Jim Rutherford Tuesday and he point-blank said he'll re-sign Marc-Andre Fleury as long as he's the GM in Pittsburgh. 'Marc-Andre Fleury will be my goaltender.'
LeBrun on Johnny Boychuk:
Islanders will have the full-court press on signing Johnny Boychuk in the near future, once he settles in. They will make him a serious offer.
Dreger on Mike Babcock:
It's believed the offer the Red Wings have on the table for Mike Babcock mirrors the contract extension for Ken Holland. Four years at slightly under $3 million per. I'm told Babcock looking for at least five years and better than $3 million. But it's not just about the money. It's about knowing he can win in Detroit.
McKenzie on Chris Stewart:
He's much in demand. Lots of teams interested and one of them is the Boston Bruins. Big gaping hole in Jarome Iginla's spot.
Dreger on Tyler Myers:
Teams are still watching him, including Detroit Red Wings. Detroit likes him, but doesn't love him based on the asking price, which still includes Dylan Larkin. Asking price has to come down.
LeBrun on World Cup of Hockey:
Toronto will be sole host of 2016 event. Montreal had been pushing to get some games.
