Dreger: Isles have "a ton of character"

Darren Dreger was on TSN 1040 Tuesday morning.

On the New York Islanders reaping early season rewards of off-season moves:

“I like what I’m seeing with the New York Islanders. I think that Garth Snow in acquiring Boychuk and Nick Leddy shored up his blueline. There’s no concerns up front for me when I look at the New York Islanders. I think they’ve got enough to go a long way. There’s a ton of character there.

“So if that defense on Long Island can continue to develop, work together as a group, and they get good goaltending – that’s a team that might surprise many.

“But most who pay attention to Eastern Conference, anyway, could see over the last couple of seasons that the Islanders were developed into something that was going to be formidable sooner rather than later. They’re not in a place where they can contend for a Stanley Cup, but most definitely they’re going to contend for a playoff spot.”
