LeBrun: "Big price" to land Sabres' Myers

Pierre LeBrun was on TSN 690 Tuesday evening.

On Tyler Myers:

“I will say this. I know of teams that have called Buffalo in the past six months and this is what Tim Murray has said: ‘He’s available, but you’re going to have to pay a big price.’

“Because the Sabres have paid a large portion of the front-loaded money that was involved in that contract. I don’t know if you remember that deal, but it was major, major money at the front and then it sort of decreases at time goes on. So the Sabres have already paid that. So for them to trade him at this point, not just to mention the fact that he’s still a young player, they’re going to want a pretty big return. And that’s the message, for example, I believe they gave Detroit last July when the Wings were fishing and looking for a right-handed defenseman. They said, ‘Hey, you can have him, but you’re going to pay big.’

“Whereas I think when it comes to guys like Stafford and Stewart, because they are UFAs at the end of the year as rentals, obviously you can get those guys a little more cheaply.”
