Bylsma on Penguins-Flyers playoffs, teams dreading Kings matchup
/Former Pittsburgh Penguins coach Dan Bylsma was on Toronto’s TSN 1050 on Wednesday afternoon.
On if the Penguins would focus on their own game, or if they tracked the standings down the stretch - basically hoping they maybe avoided certain teams come playoff time:
“I think there’s always a matchup that you – well I say want to avoid, but you know you don’t match up well against that team or that’s going to be a different matchup for your team.
“We had one in Pittsburgh two years ago – the Philadelphia Flyer matchup. I think just going into that first round matchup against the Flyers, you felt like this was going to be almost the semi-finals. This is a series you had to win right in the first round, and that was going to be your Stanley Cup for advancing on.
“So you definitely have those matchups you try to - or you might not want, but I don’t think there’s really anything you can do about it as you go down the stretch.
“But I do know I don’t think anybody – anybody – wants to get the L.A. Kings in the first round. So whether you’re the top right now with Anaheim looking down, or other teams, you’re hoping the Kings don’t get in and you’re hoping they definitely don’t fall to your seed in the first round.”
