Dreger: Bruins talked trade with Coyotes, Blues, Canucks; Lucic "not in play"

Darren Dreger was on NBCSN on Wednesday evening.

On what he’s hearing in terms of trades for the Boston Bruins:

“Well, Chiarelli has been on the phone. He’s been very active, in fact, for the past few months. It’s no secret. He can see the holes in his lineup. He wants to improve the areas that need improving. He’s talked with Arizona about Antoine Vermette. There hasn’t been a fit there yet. Earlier in the season he talked with the St. Louis Blues, looking for a winger from the Blues. There wasn’t a fit there. He’s talked with the Vancouver Canucks. Obviously history with Jim Benning. He was a former assistant general manager in Boston. Now the general manager in Vancouver. There hasn’t been a fit yet.

“Don’t expect a blockbuster here. And the speculation that Milan Lucic may be in play – he’s not in play, as long as Chiarelli is the general manager.

“So we’ll see. It’s all sparked from the disappointment. The poor play of Milan Lucic, and the poor play of the top players of the Boston Bruins. But Chiarelli and company are preaching patience. Now they need ownership to listen to that.”
