Hockey Night in Canada: Saturday's Headlines

Elliotte Friedman runs this week's segment on Hockey Night in Canada.

On the Oilers: "Everybody is kind of wondering about just the one trade for David Perron. Is this the beginning, the start of a few moves. I always hate to say this, because as soon as you say nothing is going to happen, something happens. But it doesn't appear as if anything else is imminent. But I do think we're going to start to hear some names, and first among them will be defenceman Jeff Petry, who's an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season. But at this point in time, nothing else appears imminent with the Oilers."

On Draisaitl: Oilers are expected to send Leon Draisaitl back to junior before game time Sunday. There was a rumour a German team had asked if he would come back. It's not going to happen.

On potential Gretzky involvement with the Oilers: "I heard the same rumour, that there was a rumour he would go back and be offered, 'Would you like to work in Hockey Ops. Would you like to work in Business Ops.' I reached out to him by email. His response was that is not true. And then he had a great line. He said, 'But we have talked a lot about putting a Gretzky's inside the new arena.' So maybe that's where it's all coming from. I think the one thing we can report is you can expect to see the restaurant there."

On the St. Louis Blues' goaltending situation: Still waiting to see the fallout with three healthy goaltenders now.

On Buffalo-Minnesota trade rumours: There was talk Jhonas Enroth would be going to Minnesota. Both teams denied it. Tim Murray says he has not had calls on his goaltenders.

On injuries around the league: Claude Giroux did not play. Joe Thornton will not play tonight. Better idea tomorrow on Mikael Backlund.

On the All-Star game: The All-Star draft will return.
