McKenzie outlines Bergevin's possible trade deadline shopping list
/Bob McKenzie was on Ottawa’s TSN 1200 on Thursday evening .
On what Marc Bergevin might be looking for down the stretch with the Montreal Canadiens being a buyer, and if it’ll be similar to last year when they got Thomas Vanek:
“Yeah, I think that’ll be it. I don’t think they’d be shy about improving in any area. Their goaltending is obviously set...
“And if they had to go into the post-season with the defence that they’ve got, I think they could do that. No problem. But I also think that if they could get an upgrade on the blueline they wouldn’t mind that either. They appear to have lots of puck-movers back there. Maybe they’d like another big body that could really dominate, something that would have been an upgrade on Bryan Allen. But that type of player that brings size and heaviness to the game, but also some mobility.
“Up front, yeah, I think you’re right. They’re always looking for more scorers. To get bigger. All the things they were looking for from Vanek last year that for the most part he didn’t really give them outside of a couple of bursts here or there in the playoffs.”
