Center is 'priority' for Stars' Nill

DallasNews.com points out the Stars have two prospects in centers Jason Dickinson and Devin Shore who are likely several years away from being the team’s answer to building depth up the middle.

GM Jim Nill knows this area is a pivotal issue for his franchise.

“It’s a priority for us,” Nill said of center depth. “I think if you want to be a contender, you have to be deep down the middle. That’s something we’ve talked about over and over again.”

Jamie Benn was moved from center back to left wing and Tyler Seguin was acquired from the Boston Bruins last summer to be the team’s No. 1 center. The article also notes the Stars were in on Vincent Lecavalier during free agency, although the Flyers eventually landed him.

“You have to do a lot of juggling, and you have to find the right fit,” Nill said. “That’s being prepared to move, and also being patient enough to find the right situation. That’s what we’re trying to do.”
