Will Penguins put Neal in play this summer?
/Hockey Night in Canada's Elliotte Friedman was on Sportsnet 960 Thursday evening and part of the discussion included the Pittsburgh Penguins and what may be next for the franchise.
"I think the interesting question is going to be who gets traded off that roster," Friedman noted.
"And one of the early names I'm hearing is James Neal. I think that's going to be an interesting one because... if you wanted to trade Letang, I don't know if you can do that because of the health issues. I think trading Crosby or Malkin - you're trading a nuclear weapon and I think that's a last resort, but I think the name James Neal is going to come up and that's going to be an interesting one."
On there being question marks about Neal:
"Well, you know, when he's in games and early on in that New York series when he was straddling the line, he was driving the Rangers crazy. But the one thing was that when they took Malkin off his line and they put him with Crosby, he was kind of invisible. And I wonder if he got exposed a little bit and now the question is going to be does he need to play with a great player to be successful.
"And that's not the worst thing. There's a lot of guys who need to play with great players to be successful, but he's also been undisciplined and you've got to sort that out too."
