Bobrovsky's simplicity resonates with Blue Jackets fans

As the Blue Jackets continue to move forward under the guidance of president of hockey operations John Davidson and GM Jarmo Kekalainen, the franchise is still, on most levels, searching for a 'face' since Rick Nash was dealt.

The Columbus Dispatch gives a constructive perspective on this very subject, beginning with the opinion of goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky.

“I think this, this logo,” he said, pointing to the giant Blue Jackets crest that adorns the middle of the dressing-room floor. “That is the face of this team. We all work for that, everyone, and that is bringing us results.”

Mark Letestu explains why he feels why fans connect with Bobrovsky.

“We know this team is really about a collection of guys, but if you talk to people around the community, the first thing they think of is Sergei,” Letestu said. “They get what he means to our team. He’s the Vezina winner. He’s a good citizen. He’s not a vocal guy, but he speaks through his actions. ...

“You’re not going to come in here and get great quotes from him, but when you read what he says, it’s ‘I play hockey and I stop the puck.’ That’s really what he does. He’s a simple man, and people love him for it.”
