Wild players like Kuemper's swagger
/23-year-old rookie goaltender Darcy Kuemper picked up his first playoff win and shutout in the same game Monday night, helping his Minnesota Wild with a 1-0 overtime victory and breathing some life into the team in its series with the Colorado Avalanche.
Kuemper has stopped all 36 shots he's faced since relieving Ilya Bryzgalov in Game 2.
The Pioneer Press explains how brilliant Kuemper was for the Wild after being called up from the minors in January and Zach Parise reveals a little of the flavor Kuemper brings to the team.
"He went down there, got a lot of confidence and was awesome," said Parise. "He plays with confidence. He yells at guys in practice. Usually you don't see a rookie do that. When he's playing well he's got a cockiness to him. Hopefully we see a lot of that from now on."
You mean yelling at guys to get out of his way?
"Trash talking," Parise said. "Not in a bad way. He's into it. Kind of gets the players more mad and you want to score on him every time."
