Girgensons letter-worthy for Sabres
/The Buffalo News explains why young Zemgus Girgensons earned an 'A' on his jersey for the Sabres regular season finale, and supposes the rebuilding team would consider him for the open captaincy.
Whether or not 'captain Girgensons' is in the 20-year-old's immediate future remains to be seen, but there is no doubt the Latvian has the respect of everyone in the organization thanks to his tireless work ethic.
“He works all the time, and people who work all the time have a tendency to get better,” coach Ted Nolan said. “Hopefully, that rubs off on some of his peers. Even some of them mentioned that.”
Teammate Marcus Foligno notes, “He’s a young player that’s promising, and you want to develop with that guy. He’s a young energy guy, and he can put the puck in the net. He’s kind of a little wrecking ball, too. He’s a key player for us.”
