Briere wants to be clutch player for Canadiens
/The Montreal Gazette revisits the fairly well-known notion that Canadiens forward Danny Brière is a guy who deliver in the post-season, with 109 points in 108 career games.
Brière said he doesn’t think of himself as a playoff performer.
“When I prepare, what I’m thinking is that I want to be the guy that makes the big play,” he said. “I want the puck when the game’s on the line. It’s not about thinking that I’m a playoff performer or that I’m better than anyone. I wish it was clearer or that there was a better explanation, but there really isn’t.”
The stakes are higher in the playoffs, no doubt.
“We all know experience is important,” Brière said. “You talk about nerves, how to deal with pressure. I think one of the biggest factors when you talk about experience is how you learn to react in certain situations, after a loss, after a bad play, after a bad call. That’s where experience comes into play.
