Brodeur could see executive hockey job in future

Martin Brodeur, via Fire & Ice, addressed a number of issues following Sunday's regular season finale, which may have been his last game with the New Jersey Devils.

On the possibility of becoming a team executive, as we've seen with other former NHL stars in recent years especially:

“That’s something that always interests me, but I don’t think I’m ready at all for this. I’m still in the game and these guys that are getting these jobs have played a lot of hockey, just like I did, and I think their backgrounds are similar, but they’re a lot older than me. So, it takes time to be able to get to that status and it’s something that interests me and I definitely will try to pay my dues to maybe get that eventually.”

Would he be interested in playing for the Islanders?

“I’m open to a lot of different possibilities. We’ll see what (free agency) is going to bring. Right now, I just want to enjoy the season that is just over. I guess there’s not much to enjoy, but at least it’s over. Then, we’ll think about it a later day. I don’t want to speculate on teams that I’m interested in or not interested in going (to).”

Brodeur spoke more about the factors for which he'll be looking when free agency rolls around, as well as possibly coming back to New Jersey.
