Wild respected Folin's 'Do Not Disturb' sign

Really informational piece from The Star Tribune on 6-3 Wild defenceman Christian Folin, who signed out of UMass-Lowell last week.

All 30 NHL teams showed interest in him, to give you an idea of how highly he was sought. The Flyers and Wild were the finalists.

Of particular interest was that Wild GM Chuck Fletcher met with Folin last summer and came away impressed.

Headed into the fall, Folin and his agent had a discussion.

“We had a couple meetings before the season and then said, ‘I don’t want to be bothered at all so I can focus on college,’ ” Folin said. “I even changed my [cell] number. A lot of teams really stuck to that, especially the Wild, who stayed off me until my season was over. I really appreciated that. We lost Sunday and we signed Monday night.”
