Linden's hire won't rush Burke's GM search
/With the Vancouver Canucks having fired Mike Gillis as GM, hired Trevor Linden as president of hockey operations and with Linden now looking for a new GM, The Calgary Sun notes patience is still the key word for Flames president of hockey operations Brian Burke.
“It doesn’t affect our search process at all,” said Burke.
“We have a time-frame we’re going to follow. That means if a candidate comes off the list we simply proceed to follow our process. Our expectation is we will not receive permission to talk to at least a couple people on our list until after the draft, and if that’s the case, we will wait until then.”
Burke has yet to speak to a GM candidate, aside from Joe Nieuwendyk, who wasn't interested at that point.
