Alfredsson applauds Red Wings' player development
/The Detroit Free Press explains the synergy between the infusion of youth on the Red Wings with the veterans, which has created an incredibly energy and a somewhat improbable playoff push.
The playoff berth would not have been possible without the performance of those young players though.
"No question," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said, "we couldn't have done it without them. They came here, but they took jobs. They're not going anywhere. They're real good players that keep getting better and they're going to be part of us for a long time."
Daniel Alfredsson turns the praise toward the coaches though, describing another example of how the Red Wings continue to develop young players the right way.
Of the clutch performances from the kids, Alfredsson began, "I think that tells a lot about them as person and players, but I also believe it comes from the coaching staff in terms of, from the beginning, they gave them that chance and didn't make it a big deal. It's just, 'You can do this.' I think that gave them confidence. They definitely made the most of it. I think Coach gave them a chance, and they repaid him with solid play."
