/Another NHL trade deadline has come and gone and once again, a host of players will be lacing them up for new teams in the coming days.
One element of this time of the season which has really been a game-changer has been the continued evolution of social media. Yes, there are certainly many negative elements in this genre. From fake 'insider' accounts to the hateful venom which is spewed from anonymous haters, there are certainly more than enough reasons to shake your head when the subject of Twitter is brought up in conversation.
That said, there are some genuinely positive effects from NHL players using some of their time on their social media accounts, be they Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or whatever else.
Players are able to reach out and connect with fans on an unprecedented level. Not only is that a meaningful gesture for many in the hockey world, but it also lets us see some personality and gives us quick access to players' thoughts to real time events.
