Peverley still in the hearts of Predators

The Tennessean relays how the Predators found out about former teammate Rich Peverley's collapse on March 10.

The Preds had just beaten Ottawa and were in the dressing room. Coach Barry Trotz felt it was the right thing to do to let them know right then.

“Everybody was going crazy. Everybody was jumping around and I asked everyone if I could have their ear for a minute — something that was very important,” Trotz said. “And you could have heard a pin drop in our room.”

Trotz had a chance to meet with Peverley Friday before the Preds and Dallas Stars played.

“When you were that close to death … he’s fortunate he has such good medical staff here and being in the venue here,” Trotz said. “He has a young family, he’s a young guy. He’s going to take some time off — he has a second chance at life.”
