Hartley: Giordano carries himself like Sakic

The Calgary Sun outlines how outstanding Mark Giordano has been for the Flames this season, noting he might have run the risk of being too perfect in his captaincy since taking over from the departed Jarome Iginla.

Nothing has been further from reality. Giordano has been great.

“The way he carries himself, he’s like Joe Sakic,” said Flames head coach Bob Hartley. “I’m serious — I tell him that.”

Giordano laughed.

“Every time he does, I give him a double-take. But it’s pretty cool. Being named captain this year, I’ve just tried to not change anything with the way I act on and off the ice.

“I think the best captains are the guys who night-in and night-out bring it on the ice. I think guys respect that.”
