Teravainen impresses Hall of Famer Kurri

There has been a palpable buzz on social media lately with Chicago Blackhawks fans, as they eagerly anticipate the NHL debut of Teuvo Teravainen.

The Chicago Tribune spoke with Hall of Famer Jari Kurri, who spent the last year as general manager of Jokerit of the SM-liiga in Finland - where Terevainen played.

"He's one of those guys who loves to hang onto the puck and make passes," Kurri said. "If guys get open, he finds them."

Kurri offers a number of observations on the skilled youngster, but has a simple message for Chicago fans.

"Players who come over from here, they need some time," Kurri said. "It doesn't happen in one game or a few games. It's more that they start feeling comfortable and get a chance to not worry about their games. It's a little bit of a journey. It's about being patient."

Jokerit coach Tomek Valtonen told The Tribune that Teravainen 'picked up his strength in the last 12 months' and his last quote, among several worth checking out, was money.

"He has a great stick and great vision so I believe he's going to be great," Valtonen said. "His hockey sense is unbelievable. I've never coached a player like him before. He's a special one."
