Ferraro: Carlyle's comments on Reimer were wrong

You heard the fuss over Tuesday's night comments from Toronto Maple Leafs coach Randy Carlyle concerning his goaltender, James Reimer.

“I thought he was OK, you know? Just OK,” said Carlyle.

If you missed it, here's a write-up from Sportsnet.ca's Chris Johnston.

During Wednesday night's Leafs-Lightning broadcast on TSN, Ray Ferraro was asked for his take on 'OK Gate.'

"I don't know who's right, but I know Carlyle's wrong," began Ferraro.

"In my opinion, you can prod a player and he can become more physical. A goalie can't try harder to stop the puck. He can just try to stop the puck.

"Reimer is a battler. You may not like his rebound control, you may find something you don't like about the style of play, but Randy Carlyle had to know that he was going to ignite a bit of a firestorm with a dismissive comment like he made.

"I thought Reimer was just fine. I thought he was better than okay last night in Detroit. They didn't lose because of James Reimer."
