Markov, Habs contract talks 'still in progress'
/The Montreal Gazette offers up Andrei Markov's reiteration Tuesday that he wants to remain with the Canadiens. He'll become a UFA this summer if an extension hasn't already been reached.
“I love it here, I like the organization and the city,” he said. “I can’t control (business), it’s not up to me, I just try to enjoy every moment.”
Markov, asked about a rumour of a one-year, $6 million offer: “Who said that? I don’t know. Were people there at the meetings? I have nothing to say right now.
“Whatever you (media) guys are fishing for, I don’t know,” he added, grinning. “It’s up to you guys.”
Post-scrum, Markov told writer Dave Stubbs contract talks “are still in progress. We’ll see what happens. There are eight days left. It can happen at any time.”
Plenty of Olympic-related thoughts from Markov on Team Russia in that article too.
