Leafs' Nonis wary of trade deadline
/Some great tidbits in The Toronto Sun from Leafs GM Dave Nonis concerning the upcoming trade deadline.
“I don’t anticipate us making any major moves,” Nonis said. “And I definitely don’t see us getting involved in a rent-a-player transaction that sees us move resources for someone we only have for a handful of weeks.”
On how a trade might happen: “You’re always looking to get better,” he said. “But it has to be a hockey deal. It has to make sense long term while helping us now as well.”
On how this may not be a smart time of year to make a deal: “No question that perception and price are inflated,” Nonis said. “Deadline prices definitely are different than summer prices.”
Nonis gives his thoughts on many of the Leafs in that article too, including oft-embattled Nazem Kadri and how Nonis is both pleased and cautious with Jonathan Bernier.
