Friedman: Word is the Boston Bruins have rewarded Claude Julien with a three-year contract extension.

Cox: Alex Semin is a healthy scratch. "This is going to be interesting to watch, Elliotte, because I think he's untradable."

Friedman: New York Rangers have several injuries. "Word is they are one of the teams that is interested in Carolina's Andrej Sekera."

Friedman: Agent for Marc-Andre Fleury is in Pittsburgh, and they had mentioned a couple of weeks ago they hoped to start contract extension talks.

Cox: NHL is watching the AHL overtime changes.

Friedman: Referee huddles may become more common as they discuss calls on the ice.

Cox: Anthony Mantha is skating in Grand Rapids. Nobody in Detroit really seems to know what's going on with Daniel Alfredsson. I think he'll retire.
