Friedman: Teams "circling" Jets for trades
/Elliotte Friedman was on Sportsnet 590 Friday morning.
On the Winnipeg Jets:
“The Jets are going to be an interesting team to watch. I think it’s tough for them to make the playoffs in that conference, for one thing. Pavelec gave them a great game last night. He made a brilliant save off Jagr at the end of regulation to even give them a point.
“And I think other teams are starting to circle around them and say, ‘Exactly what are you guys going to be doing here with some of your parts?’
“I know there’s always a lot of rumours about Evander Kane, who returned, but I think Ladd and Byfuglien next year are going to be heading into the last years of their contract. They’ve got - each of them have some no-move protection, or no-trade protection, but I do think you’re going to start to see some teams ask Winnipeg, ‘What are you thinking with those two guys? Are you thinking keep, or are you that thinking you may want to see what you can get for them?’ Because I think there would be a lot of interest in both of them.”
